"High In The Sunlit Silence" is an evocative original oil painting on stretched canvas by Andrew Harris AGAvA. It depicts a wartime Hawker Hurricane of 605 (County of Warwick) Squadron. The actual aircraft, Hurricane L2122 (UP-L) was lost on Sunday 15th September 1940 whilst defending London from a sustained attack by the Luftwaffe. The pilot, Flying Officer R.E Jones managed to safely bale out and although injured, recovered to resume flying duties and survived the war.

The painting is supplied with a bound document containing copies of letters sent to the artist by the pilot in the 1990's, with his very personal account of the events of that day, as well as a copy of the official combat report and copies of a wartime photo and portrait of the pilot, making this a unique historical record and tribute to one of 'The Few'.

The original painting is supplied unframed, ready for you to have framed to suit your own tastes.

The original painting on stretched canvas over wooden bearers measures approximately 13"x18" inches.

This painting is one of a matching pair - the other being "Fighters are our Salvation" and depicts a Spifire also soaring into the sky and together, would make a stunning addition to any aviation art collection. Click HERE to see the accompanying piece.
