A stunning original oil painting depicting Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IIA P7966 - Douglas Bader's personal aircraft D-B in 1941.

Wing Commander Douglas Bader flew a number of Spitfires as Wing Commander at RAF Tangmere including P7966, depicted landing at an RAF airfield in Southern England during the summer of 1941. Overhead, the tranquility of an English summer meadow is pierced by the popping sound of the landing Spitfire's Merlin engine as well as the distant roar of Spitfires forming up and departing for another Channel patrol.

In 1931 Bader had lost both his legs in a flying accident but, fought his way back to active service to become one of the RAF's leading aces of the war.
