Taken from the original oil painting "Op's on Tonight", this limited edition canvas depicts Avro Lancaster B3 of 97 Squadron, RAF Bourn, 'J for Johnny' as it is being prepared by her dedicated groundcrew ready for the night's bombing mission deep into enemy territory. A David Brown tractor tug gently manoeuvres a 12,000lb high capacity bomb ready for loading into the Lancaster's bomb bay. JB659 was lost on the night of 30th January 1944 at Zwanenburg, Holland after a bombing raid on Berlin, with the loss of all of her crew.
One of just 50 limited edition canvas artist's studio prints from a print run of just 850 copies. These canvas prints are on timber stretchers and use fade resistant inks that are guaranteed for 75years. The prints are individually inspected for quality and then signed and numbered on the reverse by the artist and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. These special prints on canvas are the closest to the original oil painting as one can get.
The stretched canvas print is presented as a stretched 'gallery wrap' print, meaning that the image is "stretched" around the edges of the timber stretcher, so that it does not need framing and is supplied ready to hang - as shown in the pictures above. The size of the canvas stretcher is approximately 90 x 60cm.
